
Schroeder leads No. 15 Trojans, 109-84
MASON CITY - It was a career-night for NIACC sophomore guard Alexis Schroeder.
Schroeder, who is from Caledonia, Minn., scored a career-high 41 points, including a career-best 10 3-point goals, to lead the No. 15 NIACC women's basketball team to a 109-84 ICCAC victory over Iowa Lakes Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
Schroeder's previous career high was 30 points against the Waldorf University Junior Varsity on Nov. 19, 2024.
Schroeder also had six assists, five steals and three rebounds as the Trojans bounced back from their 76-72 loss last Saturday at Ellsworth.
The 41 points by Schroeder is tied for 13th on NIACC's single-game scoring list. The school single-game record is 51 points by Trudy Peterson against Kennedy King College on Nov. 21, 2015.
The last time a Trojan scored at least 40 points in a game was Autam Mendez when she scored 48 points against Little Priest Tribal College on Feb. 26, 2020.
The 10 3-point goals by Schroeder is tied for 7th on the school's single-game 3-point list. Mandy Willems has the single-game school record with 13 3-pointers against Southeastern CC on March 2, 2019.
The 10 three-point goals by Schroeder was the most since Mendez connected on 11 3-point goals the night she scored 48 points against LPTC.
Also Wednesday against Iowa Lakes, sophomore forward Tori Miller scored 19 points with six assists, five rebounds and one blocked shot. Sophomore Sonya Potthoff scored 16 points with three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
NIACC's Keeley Steele scored 10 points with nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
NIACC (8-2 overall, 1-1 in the ICCAC) returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at Northeast CC in Norfolk, Neb. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
