
IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Iowa Lakes moved within one-half game of 3rd place Ellsworth in what is now a 4-way battle for the ICCAC championship with a 93-88 decision over the Panthers Wednesday, ECC's first home loss of the season. Ellsworth, playing without leading scorer Chimobi Ikegwukura, is 9-3 in the league. Iowa Lakes is 8-3. Both teams are chasing DMACC (10-1) and Kirkwood (9-2).
ECC lost despite making 20 more free throws than the Lakers, a total offset by ILCC's ten more made field goals. The difference in the final score, then, was Iowa Lakes' 10 3-pointers compared to ECC's 5. The Lakers shot 51.5 percent from the field to 37 percent for Ellsworth. ILCC also enjoyed a big edge in bench points, 31-14, with 12 of Ellsworth's coming from Arlandus Keyes.
Clinton Efinda led the ECC scoring with 21 points followed by Jordan Glenn-Hawkins with 17, Jaron Crews with 16 and Cameron Liggins with 15.
Ellsworth (17-5) plays at Southwestern CC on Saturday.
