Iowa Lakes Ready for Season Opener

Iowa Lakes Ready for Season Opener

The Iowa Lakes Baseball team opens their season this weekend at Fort Scott Community College in Joplin, Missouri.

This will be Head Coach Danny Acosta's second season with the Lakers.  One strength he has identified for his team is maturity.  The players believe in themselves and are looking to move forward.  Their pitchers have performed will in practices and scrimmages, throwing a lot of strikes and challenging hitters.  The defense has also performed well and is much improved from last year.

Returners Ben Bach and Briar Rowley will be leading the team this year.  They are joined by transfers Adam Moser and Bradley Barkley.  Freshmen looking to have an impact for the Lakers include Bryan Mojica, Kellen Cameron, and Luis Ramos

In practice the Lakers have been focusing on defense and the mindset of controlling what they can control.  This season they will look to qualify for the conference postseason tournament.  Academics are another focus for the team, emphasizing the importance of work in the classroom for the student-athletes.

The Lakers' home opener is scheduled for March 26th-27th vs Ellsworth.
