Lakers get first conference win

 This past weekend the Lakers traveled to Creston, Iowa to face the Spartans of Southwestern CC. In game one the lakers put up 10 runs on 12 hits but would fall short to a score of 10-19. Leading the Lakers offense was sophomore Beau Dalian, who had 3 hits (2 doubles) and 1 RBI. Sophomore Elkin Ortiz had 2 hits (1 homerun) and 5 RBIs. Freshmen Boyd Jones (1 triple), Carson Riggs, and Matt Risser all had 2 hits (1 homerun), and freshman Nick Ryun had a hit and an RBI.

In game 2 the Lakers put up 6 runs on 7 hits, which was enough to earn the victory 6-4. Leading the offense for the Lakers was freshman Nick Ryun, who had 2 hits (1 double) and 2 RBIs, and sophomore Keyber Delgado who also added 2 hits (1 double). Sophomore Elkin Ortiz had a triple and 2 RBIs. Freshmen Carson Riggs (1 RBI) and Spencer Kober both added a hit a piece.  

In game 3 the Lakers put up 7 runs on 15 hits, falling short 7-9. Leading the offense was Sophomore Drake Van Meter with 3 hits (1 double), August Goethals with 2 hits, freshman Carson Riggs with 3 hits and 3 RBIs, and Spencer Kober with 2 hits. Sophomores Elkin Ortiz, Beau Dalian, Keyber Delgado, and Joel Prpic, as well as freshman Nick Ryun all added a hit for the Lakers.

The Lakers move to 5-13 overall and 1-2 in conference. The Lakers travel to Mitchell, SD today to take on Dakota Wesleyan JV. First pitch is set for 3:00pm. Th Lakers have their home opener Wednesday March 26th against Northeast CC. The first pitch of the double header is scheduled for 1:00pm.
