Lakers fall to Marshalltown

The Lakers traveled to Marshalltown on Tuesday for a double header. The Lakers put up a good fight but came up short in both games.

In game 1, the Lakers had 2 runs on 8 hits, falling 2-4. Sophomores Elkin Ortiz (triple) and Beau Dalian (double) led the offense in game 1 both having 2 hits. Sophomore Keyber Delgado, freshmen Boyd Jones (double), Carson Riggs, and Jace Embry (double) all had a hit. Riggs and Dalian had the only RBIs in game 1. Getting the start for game 1 was sophomore Mason Hicks, throwing 5.1 innings, allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned runs, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

In game 2, the Lakers scored 15 runs on 17 hits, falling just one run short, 15-16. Leading the offense was sophomore Elkin Ortiz with 4 hits (2 doubles, homerun) and 6 RBI's. Freshman Jace Embry added 3 hits (triple) and 3 RBIs, freshman Boyd Jones, Carson Riggs, and sophomore Drake Van Meter all had 2 hits. Riggs and Jones each had an RBI. Sophomores Beau Dalian, Keyber Delgado, and Luis Cedeno all had 1 hit a piece. Dalian and Cedeno each had an RBI.

The Lakers are back in action Saturday April 26th as they travel to Mason City to take on the Trojans from NIACC.
