Iowa Lakes Dance Team Ready for State Dance Competition

The Iowa Lakes Community College Laker Dance Team will compete December 1-3 at the 2021 State Dance Team Championship at Hy-Vee Hall in Downtown Des Moines.

The Lakers feature a lot of local talent with four dancers from Estherville including sophomores Elle Houseman and Shania Murray and freshmen Adelee Reinhardt and Riley Shryock.  The team also has two dancers from Spirit Lake, IA with Molly Mulhern and Gracie Zemler. Mariah Martin is from Armstrong, IA and Kassandra Diehl is from Orange City, IA.

Coach Juhl commented "This year's team has worked so hard. Always coming to practice prepared and willing to do more than what has been asked of them.  I have demanded a lot from them and have enjoyed watching them improve.

The Lakers are one of twenty-two college teams in attendance. All twenty-two teams will compete against one another over the span of three days in the College Pom Division and Hip-Hop Division.

Coach Juhl explained this upcoming competition saying, "Each judge will score our performance. A total of 100 points per judge can be awarded to a team for their performance. The judge's scores are then totaled and averaged; the team with the highest average score wins."

The Laker Dance Team is currently recruiting for our 22-23 dance season. For more information, please contact Coach Juhl at djuhl@iowalakes.edu.
