The Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team debuted at No. 20 in the 2018-19 Preseason National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's Basketball Rankings. The Lakers are coming off a season in which they finished 23 – 9 overall and 9 – 3 in the highly competitive ICCAC which was good enough for second place. The Lakers return 3 players from last year's team including Solomon Clayton (All-Region Honorable Mention, 10.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game), Jacob Rau (10 points and 5.1 rebounds per game), and Ryan Girardi (4.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game).
Iowa Lakes will open up the regular season by playing Northwestern College JV on November 1st at 7:30pm in Laker Gymnasium.
Iowa Lakes is coached by Troy Larson who is entering his 12th season as head coach of the Lakers and has an overall record of 231 – 117. Larson has coached the Lakers to one national tournament appearance (2012 – 2013 season), three regional tournament final appearances (2013, 2014, 2016) and two ICCAC regular season championships (2013, 2016).
