The National Association of Basketball Coaches has named the Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball Team the team of the week for games played January 7-13, capping off an impressive week for the Lakers.

"Really proud of our team for achieving this honor. A lot of hard work by our players and assistant coaches," commented Larson.

Iowa Lakes traveled to Iowa Western Community College on Tuesday.  The Lakers defeated NJCAA Division I Iowa Western 80-74.  Solomon Clayton led the Lakers with 22 points and nine rebounds.  The Lakers had a balanced attack for the victory with four other players scoring in double figures:  Kevin Jennings with 16, Boston Grimes with 13, and Malcolm Clayton and Jacob Rau with 10 each.

Saturday the Lakers faced number 17 DMACC in Boone.  They were again led in the victory by Solomon Clayton with 22 points.  Jennings finished with 20, Malcolm Clayton with 16, and Rau with 10.  The Lakers defense was also quite impressive, forcing 32 combined turnovers for the two games.

Iowa Lakes was among good company as Ole Miss was selected as the team of the week for Division I as well as Slippery Rock for Division II.

The Lakers are currently 12-4 on the year and 3-0 in conference play. The Lakers return to action tonight as they host Southwestern Community College at 7:30.
