Tonight's game postponed until tomorrow

Estherville, Iowa – Wednesday, February 20, 2019

Due to inclement weather the Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball contest scheduled for tonight vs North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC)  has been postponed until tomorrow night Thursday February 21st  at 7:30pm in Laker Gymnasium on the Estherville Campus.

Thursday night's game against NIACC has big implications on the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) regular season standings.  NIACC is 21-3 overall and 10-1 in the ICCAC.  The Trojans are in first place.  The Lakers have an overall record of 18-8 and are 8-3 in the ICCAC.  The Lakers are coming off an upset win against fourth ranked Kirkwood at Cedar Rapids, 82-75, and are sitting alone in third place.  After their efforts against Kirkwood, Coach Troy Larson stated, "Our guys have been working hard and we have had success the last couple of games to put us in a good position heading down the stretch of the season.  It is fun to be playing meaningful games in late February."

The Lakers and Trojans met earlier this season in Mason City.  NIACC came out victorious, 119-110.  The Trojans had four players score in double digits against the Lakers.  Quentin Hardrict led the Trojans in scoring with 26 points.  Deundra Roberson and Wendell Matthews scored 22 and 20 points, respectively.  James Harris scored 18 points on the night.  For the Lakers, three players scored in double digits.  Kevin Jennings scored 35 points while shooting 58% from the floor.  Boston Grimes scored 22 points while shooting 7 for 12 from the field.  Solomon Clayton had a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 70% from the floor.

Kevin Jennings is second in the ICCAC in scoring with 21.4 points per game. Solomon Clayton is averaging 9.2 rebounds per game, which puts him at third in the ICCAC.  The NIACC Trojans are first in the ICCAC in scoring averaging 98.5 points per game while Iowa Lakes is third with 86.8 points per game.  "Should be a good college game," stated Coach Larson, "we need a nice home crowd to come out and support our guys."
