Iowa Lakes finished the regular season with an overall record of 21-9 and a conference record of 10-4 to earn the three seed in the regional tournament. The winner of the eight team tournament will earn a trip to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. By finishing in the top half of the conference, the Lakers will host their round game against six seeded Iowa Central.
Iowa Lakes was incredibly competitive in the conference; they split with top seeded Kirkwood. Key contributors for the Lakers have been Kevin Jennings averaging 19.6 points per game and Solomon Clayton averaging 16.2 points per game. Jennings is third and Solomon Clayton is 10th in the ICCAC for scoring. Solomon has been efficient this season. He has shot 64.5% from the field in conference play. Equan Ards has also helped the Lakers offensive efforts by contributing 14.2 points per game and shooting 57.3% from the field. Ards' field goal percentage places him 5th in the conference in the category.
As a team, the Lakers have a field goal percentage of 52.1%, which places them second in the nation for the category.
The Lakers have been out rebounding their opponents by an average of 10 rebounds per game. This has been in large part due to Solomon Clayton and Equan Ards. Solomon has been averaging 8.5 rebounds overall and 9.1 rebounds in conference play. Equan Ards has grabbed 4.6 rebounds per game.
The Lakers will face off with Iowa Central for the third time this season. In their first meeting on January 19th at Iowa Central the Lakers fell 96-98. February 2nd the two teams squared off at Iowa Lakes with the Lakers defeating the Tritons 84-64.
The Lakers ended the regular season on a three game winning streak and look to carry that momentum into the regional tournament.
