Pegues named ICCAC Athlete of the Week

Iowa Lakes Freshman Forward Keshawn Pegues of Davenport, IA earned Iowa Community College Conference Athlete of the Week for his efforts to begin the year. The Laker's schedule to start the year has been among the toughest schedules in the country. During the first 10 days of the season the Lakers faced 3 NJCAA Division 1 opponents (the level above them) on the road including Cowley, 17th ranked Coffeyville, and Northeast. There other two games were vs. Dordt University's JV and 17th ranked Central Nebraska.

In their first action of the year they Lakers would travel to Arkansas City, Kansas to play in the Cowley Classic on November 1st and 2nd. On November 1st they would take on Cowley,  Pegues came off the bench and had 11 points and 8 rebounds for the Lakers. The Lakers would lose that game 113-84.  The very next night, The Lakers would take on Coffeyville Community College. In that game, Pegues would score 16 points while shooting 5 of 10 from the floor and grabbing 11 rebounds. The Lakers would go on to lose that game 82-81 on a 65-foot buzzer-beater that would spin in and out and then back in as time expired.  The Lakers then turned around and hosted Dordt University's JV on Monday, November 4th. Pegues would go 6 of 10 from the floor scoring 15 points and would grab 5 rebounds in that contest.

In their final contests over the 10-day period, the Lakers would travel to Norfolk, Nebraska the weekend of November 8th and 9th to play in the Hawk Classic. In those games, Iowa Lakes would take on Northeast and 17th ranked Central Nebraska. Against Northeast Pegues would find himself in the starting line up for the first time on the year. He responded by having 13 points and 9 rebounds. The Lakers would get the win 93-86. In their final game of the weekend, they would take on Central Nebraska and would win the game 92-78. Pegues has a monster game scoring 26 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.

Over the 10-day period, Pegues averaged 16.2 points per game and 9.8 rebounds.

Coach Larson had this to say about Pegues, "Keshawn has had a great start year and has worked extremely hard to start the year, I am proud of him and am excited to see what he can do this season."
