Lakers open up 2nd half of the year at home vs. Southwestern

Estherville, Iowa – Tuesday, January 7, 2020

The 17th ranked Iowa Lakes Men's Basketball team will host conference opponent Southwestern at home on Wednesday, January 7th at 7:30 pm. The Lakers are currently 11-3 on the season. The Lakers defeated Dakota County their last time out 78-60.

The Lakers who are averaging 94 points per contest are led by Justin Brookens.  Brookens is averaging 19.9 points per game on the season. Brookens is also getting 3.9 rebounds and dishing out 4.6 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the floor and 51% from 3. Multiple Lakers are averaging double figures on the season including Keshawn Pegues at 15.1 points, Malcolm Clayton at 11.1 points, Kevin Cook at 11.0 points, and Boston Grimes at 10.0 points. Pegues also leads the Lakers in rebounding with 9.2 rebounds per game. 

"We are looking forward to getting back to playing games and getting back into conference play, the league is one of the best in the country and every game will be competitive," Said Lakers Head Coach Troy Larson.  The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference currently has 4 teams in the top 20. North Iowa is currently 4th, DMACC is 5th, defending National Champion Kirkwood is 13th, and Iowa Lakes is 17th.
