Estherville, IA -Iowa Lakes Sophomore Forward Alan Kikwaki of Brussels, Belgium earned Iowa Community College Conference Athlete of the Week for his efforts the week of January 6th-12th.
In their first competition of the week, the Lakers would host a conference foe Southwestern. Against Southwestern, Kikwaki would help lead the Lakers to a 102-91 victory by scoring 16 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Kikwaki would go 7-11 from the floor in the game.
In their second contest of the week, Kikwaki would lead Iowa Lakes to an 88-81 win over Dakota County. In that contest, Kikwaki would lead all Iowa Lakes scorers with 27 points going 10 of 11 from the floor. He would also grab 2 rebounds and have 3 blocked shots.
Coach Larson had this to say about Brookens, "Alan has worked very hard in his time with us and I'm proud of how much he has developed."
Iowa Lakes is currently ranked 15th in the NJCAA Division 2 poll. Their next competition will be January 15th when they travel to Mason City to take on 10th ranked NIACC. The tip will be at 7:30 pm.
