Lakers Release Schedule

Estherville, IA — Iowa Lakes Community College men's basketball coach Troy Larson is pleased to announce the 2021-22 schedule that will feature 13 home games in Laker Gymnasium.
 
Entering his fifteenth season as the head man for the Lakers, Larson has put together a competitive non-conference schedule that will prepare the Lakers for a grueling Iowa Community College Athletic Conference slate.
 
Iowa Lakes returns three of its top five scorers from last season with NJCAA First Team All American Xzavier Jones leading the way (13.5) Honorable Mention All-Region Guard Ryan Hall (13.2), and Honorable Mention All-Region Point Guard Caleb Johnson (12.2). Coach Larson also welcomes back Ozzie Meiborg, Johnathan Oden, and Joseph Owens. The Lakers finished 3rd in the NJCAA National Tournament last season.
 
Iowa Lakes opens its 60th season of basketball with a trip to Wahpeton, ND to take on NJCAA Division 1  North Dakota College of Science on November 1st. This is the first meeting between the Lakers and Wildcats since Nov. 25, 2017. 
 
The Laker will be on the road the whole month of November traveling to Beatrice,  NE November 6th to take on Southeast Nebraska. They will travel to Overland Park, KS November 12th and 13th to play in the Johnson County Classic. They will play NJCAA 11th Ranked Johnson County at 7pm on the 12th and Highland Community College of Kansas on the 13th. They will then head to Marshalltown, IA for the Emerson Classis where they will take on NJCAA 17th ranked Bryant and Stratton on November 19th and NJCAA Division 3 powerhouse Rock Valley College on the 20th. The traveling however doesn't stop there for the Lakers. They will travel to Columbus, NE on November 27th and 28th to play in the Pinnacle Bank Thanksgiving Classes at Central Community College. On the 27th they will take on NJCAA 19th ranked North Central Missouri who the Lakers last played on April 21, 2021, in the NJCAA National tournament. The Lakers would win the game 79-72. The next night the Lakers will take on 18th ranked Central Community College. The Lakers have won their last 4 vs Central.   


Fans will have an opportunity to see the Lakers in Laker Gymnasium for the first time when they take on Southwestern Community College on Wednesday, December 1st. The Lakers will then travel on  December 5th  to Burlington, IA to take on NJCAA Division 1 Southeastern. There remaining December home games will include Iowa Central on December 8th, Central Nebraska on December 11th, and Iowa Western on December 15th. The Lakers will travel to Sioux City, IA on December 18th to take on raining NJCAA and ICCAC champion DMACC at the Tyson Events Center. DMACC starts the season ranked # 1 in the country. The Lakers will break for Christmas December 19th.
 
The Lakers will return to action January 5th at home vs. Fort Scott Community College. There remaining January games include January 8th at Ellsworth, January 12th vs. North Iowa, January 15th vs. Southeast Nebraska, January 18th at Northeast Nebraska, January 20th at Iowa Western, January 22nd at Dakota County, January 26th vs. Ellsworth, and January 29th vs. DMACC at Waldorf College in Forest City, IA.
 
The month of February starts with Lakers traveling to Cedar Rapids, IA to take on NJCAA 3rd ranked Kirkwood. The Lakers will then travel to Southwestern on the 5th. Their remaining February games include February 8th vs. Northeast, February 12th vs. Kirkwood, February 16th at Iowa Central, February 19th vs. Dakota County, and February 23rd at North Iowa.
 
The First and Semi-Final round of ICCAC Region 11 tournament takes place February 25th  and 26th  in Mason City, IA. The Championship will be played at the highest remaining seed on Thursday, March 3rd.
