Four Iowa Lakes Men’s Basketball Players Earn Postseason Honors

Four Iowa Lakes Community College men's basketball athletes were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Men's Basketball All-Region teams.

Ryan Hall and Caleb Johnson were named to the ICCAC All-Region first team, Xzavier Jones was named to the second team All-Region, and Johnathan Oden was named honorable mention.

"I'm proud of the representation that we had on the all-conference teams.  It is a direct result of our student athletes work ethic, competitiveness, and character.  All of our players sacrificed individual statistics in order for our team to achieve maximum success.  It takes talented players to have success and you can tell it is the case this year with the amount of all conference performers we have," commented Larson.

Ryan Hall the leading scorer for the Lakers averaged 12.9 points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game.

"Ryan was one of the better offensive players in our league over the last two years.  High level scorer who could really shoot the ball.  Improved on the defensive end and learned how to be a college basketball player.  Looking forward to him having success at the 4 year level," commented Coach Larson.

Caleb Johnson averaged 12.4 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game. Johnson led the team and conference in assists per game with 5.2.  Johnson led the Lakers in 3-point field goal percentage shooting 44.7% and was 2nd in conference.

"Caleb had a really good year for us.  Was a leader from the point guard position.  Made other guys better and is a winner.  Very tough and competitive.  Enjoyed coaching him for two years.  Has a bright future at the four year level," commented Coach Larson.

Xzavier Jones led the Lakers in rebounding grabbing 7.1 per game. He was fifth in the conference in rebounding.  Jones averaged 9.6 points per game.

"Xzavier was our returning All American.  Had a very productive sophomore year.  One of the better rebounders in our league.  Very high IQ and made a ton of plays every game that impacted winning.  Had a very good two year career at Iowa Lakes," commented Coach Larson.

Johnathan Oden averaged 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds.

"Jon improved tremendously in his time at Iowa Lakes.  Became one of the better posts players in the league.  Had the ability to impact games defensively and on the glass.  Was always a crowd favorite with his ability to play above the rim," commented Coach Larson.

Iowa Lakes is coached by Troy Larson who is in his 15th year at the college.  He has an overall record of 318 wins and 149 loses.

The Lakers finished the season with an overall record of 21-10 and a 11-5 record in conference play.
