Lakers Open up Saturday vs. Marshalltown

Estherville, IA — Iowa Lakes Community College Head Men's Basketball Coach Jason McKinney is pleased to announce the 2024-25 schedule that will feature 13 home games in Laker Gymnasium.
 
Entering his second season as the head man for the Lakers, McKinney has put together a competitive non-conference schedule that will prepare the Lakers for a grueling Iowa Community College Athletic Conference(ICCAC) slate.
 
Iowa Lakes returns two players from last season with Ashton Hermann leading the way. Hermann averaged 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game last season. Joining Hermann will be Laker Big Man Jhordan Ryan. Last season Ryan averaged 5.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. The Lakers finished 2nd in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference last season and qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament.

Iowa Lakes opens its 63rd season of basketball in Laker Gymnasium on Saturday November 2nd at 4pm. They will take on NJCAA Division 1 Marshalltown.
 
The Lakers will then travel to Overland Park, KS November 8th and 9th to play in the Johnson County Classic. They will play NJCAA 15th Ranked Johnson County at 7pm on the 8th and Highland Community College of Kansas on the 9th. They will then head to Marshalltown, IA for the Emerson Classis where they will take on perennial NJCAA Division 2 powerhouse John Wood on November 15th and DME St Johns Prep School on the 16th.  The Lakers will then be home for a contest with Dordt's JV on November 19th.

The traveling however picks back up for the Lakers as they will travel to Mason City, IA on November 22nd and 23rd to play in the Iowa Nebraska Thanksgiving Classic at North Iowa Community College. On the 22nd they will take on Southeast Nebraska. On the 23rd the Lakers will take on Central Community College. 

The Lakers will travel back to Mason City on December 4th as they take on NIACC to kick off ICCAC play.

Fans will have an opportunity to see the Lakers in Laker Gymnasium for four straight games beginning Saturday, December 7th when they take on 6th ranked Kirkwood. On December 11th they will host Iowa Western, on the 14th they will host Iowa Central, and then the Lakers will finish the 1st semester hosting Northeast on December 16th. 
 
The Lakers will return to action January 4th when they travel to Creston to take on Southwestern. There remaining January games include January 8th at DMACC, January 11th at Ellsworth, January 15th at Marshalltown, January 18th vs. Western Iowa Tech, January 22nd at Iowa Central, January 25th at Dakota County, and January 29th at Iowa Western.
 
The month of February starts with Lakers traveling to Iowa Falls, IA to take on NJCAA 7th ranked Ellsworth. They will be in Laker Gymnasium on the 5th to take on Dakota County. Their remaining February games include February 8th vs. Southwestern, February 12th at Northeast, February 15th at Western Iowa Tech, February 19th vs. DMACC, February 22nd at Kirkwood. and February 26th vs. NIACC.
 
The ICCAC Region 11 tournament takes place March 1st, 5th, and 8th at the highest remaining seed.
