Three Laker Men’s Basketball Athletes Named to the ICCAC Division II Men’s Basketball All-Region Team

Three Iowa Lakes Community College Men's Basketball athletes were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Men's Basketball All-Region teams.

Jhordan Ryan was named to the ICCAC All-Region first team, Ashton Hermann was named to the second All-Region team, and Jermaine Freeman was Honorable Mention.

"I'm proud of the representation that we had on the all-conference teams.  It is a direct result of our student athletes' work ethic, competitiveness, and character.  All of our players sacrificed individual statistics in order for our team to achieve maximum success.  It takes talented players to have success and you can tell it is the case this year with the amount of all conference performers we have," commented Head Coach Jason McKinney.

Jhordan Ryan is the nation's second-leading rebounder at 11.2 per game. He leads the nation in total rebounds with 346.He was also the league-leader in blocks with 52 -- nearly three per game and was 5th in the nation with 2.8 blocks per game. Ryan averaged 13.6 points on 55.2% shooting. In Jhordan's career at Iowa Lakes, he scored 645 total points in 67 games, 549 total rebounds, and 133 blocks. Ryan has also been named NJCAA national player of the week two times this season, and ICCAC athlete of the week three times.

"Jhordan led the conference in rebounding and blocked shots this year and was # 1 in the country in total rebounds and 5th in blocked shots. Not only is he a high-level defender but he has really improved his offensive game this season finishing 4th in offensive field goal percentage. Really proud of his development and he will be a really good player wherever he decides to go next season," said Laker Head Coach Jason McKinney.

Ashton Hermann was 8th in the ICCAC in PPG with 14.5. He also was 8th in the ICCAC for steals per game with 1.6. In his career at Iowa Lakes, Hermann has scored 753 total points in 67 games played. He had 258 rebounds, 133 assists and 91 steals. He was named ICCAC Athlete of the Week twice this season.

"Ashton really got better and more confident on the offensive end from year 1 to year 2. He was our leading scorer this season. He has a good pull up and floater game which are some of the harder shots you will have to take as a college basketball player. He improved defensively this season and became a better all-around player this season. I am excited for him to be able to play at the next level next season wherever that may be, " said Laker Head Coach Jason McKinney.

Jermaine Freeman made the most of his freshman campaign scoring 392 total points, in just 29 games. He had 84 rebounds, 73 assists, and 34 steals. He was named ICCAC Athlete of the Week once this season. He was 13th in the ICCAC in PPG with 13.5, 14th in the ICCAC in 3PT% with 36.6%, and 17th in the ICCAC for assists with 2.5.

"Jermaine had a good freshmen campaign scoring the ball. He is a dynamic scorer and has a chance to be a pretty good player next season. He is a really good one ball defender and I am excited to get him back and see what kind of growth he has from year one to year two," said Laker Head Coach Jason McKinney.

The Lakers finished with a 19-12 overall record on the season and ended ICCAC play with a 9-9 record.
