(Spencer, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer has finished the regular season as the ICCAC Co-Champions. After tying for the regular season conference championship, the Lakers earned the 2 seed for regional tournament play. They will host Indian Hills.

This season was the best on record for the Iowa Lakes Men's Soccer Team under Head Coach, Ben Macrae. The tie for conference champions is a feat even more impressive due to the competitive nature of the league. The eleven-team conference has seen 5 of its teams ranked in the top 20 nationally this year. The Lakers also beat Iowa Western for the first time in school history. They finished the regular season with a conference record of 9-1 and an overall record of 14-2-1. Now they are looking forward to regional play and hope to win a berth to nationals.

Macrae attributes the team's success to their depth and development. Nicolas Likulia in particular has played a significant role this year.

"Nicolas has been fantastic for us this year. He really progressed over the spring season and worked really hard. Adam Pritchard, Julio Rangel, and Abel Gebrekiros are fellow returners who have also contributed to the high level of play of the Lakers this season." commented Macrae.

Post season play for the Lakers will begin with a regional semi-final game against Indian Hills at 3 pm Tuesday, October 23 in Spencer.

"Will be a tough match-up with Indian Hills.  We are happy that we are playing them at home as we are undefeated at home this season. It's going to take an outstanding performance to win the game. We feel really good about it." commented Macrae.
