IOWA LAKES DEFEATS INDIAN HILLS 3-1 IN SEMIFINAL

      The #3 seed Iowa Lakers traveled to Otumwa Iowa to take on #2 seed Indian Hills CC in the Region XI semifinal. Indian Hills came into the match ranked #13 in the country and the Lakers ranked #14 in the country. The Lakers defeated Indian Hills 3-1 and will advance to the Region XI championship game November 3rd. 

       The Lakers opened up scoring in the 21st minute with sophomore Julian Parude shot inside Indian Hills box off a pass from Jovoney Brown. Ten minutes later Indian Hills would equalize off a Laker own goal from an Indian Hills corner kick. Ten minutes after the Lakers would regain the lead with a goal from Jovoney Brown. Sophomore Luto Tom assisted in the goal by playing a beautiful through ball for Brown to run on to. The first half would end with the Lakers up 2-1 heading into halftime. 

      The Lakers picked up where they left off in the start of the second half extending their lead 3-1 in the first 30 seconds of the second half. Sophomore defender Cameron Weston played a dangerous ball across the Indian Hill box for Julian Parude to tap in the back of Indian Hills net. Giving the Freshmen his second goal of the match. The Lakers would continue to dominate possession and play lights out defense to seal the win for the Lakers. 

       The Lakers will advance to the Region XI championship match where they will host the number 4 seed and number 18 nationally ranked community college in Spencer Sunday, November 3rd at 3pm
