IOWA LAKES ATHLETICS HAS TWO MEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS NAMED ICCAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

(Estherville, Iowa) Iowa Lakes Athletics has two men's soccer players named ICCAC Athletes of the Week.

Division II Men's Soccer - Player

Matheus Loreto - Iowa Lakes - Sophomore - Defense

Mathew Loreto stepped up in a major way for the Lakers this past week. Lozano played 45 minutes in a 3-1 win against NAICC. In the match Loreto managed to score an impressive two goals playing in the defense. Following up a great performance Lozano played 90 minutes and managed to help his team keep a clean sheet against NJCAA DI #13 Indian Hills. Playing in the defense Loreto has made himself stand out with two goals and a clean sheet over the last two games. These major contributions will be something that the Lakers will hope to see again when the Lakers open up conference play against Southeastern this Saturday.

Division II Men's Soccer - Goalkeeper

Yuta Hirano - Iowa Lakes - Freshman

Iowa Lakes goalie Yuta Hirano has shown up for the Lakers in their last two matches. Coming up with nine saves and a clean sheet, Hirano has made some major contributions. Against NIACC Hirano made five saves in a 3-1 win for the Lakers. Facing #13 DI Indian Hills Hirano made 4 saves, including a penalty save to keep the game 0-0. While Hirano has stepped up and made some big time saves for the Lakers he has also been an important piece in turning defense into offense. Hirano shows great ability in distributing the ball out from the back putting the ball at the feet of his defenders. The Lakers will open up conference play against Southeastern this Saturday and Hirano will be looking to continue his great form for the Lakers.
