Iowa Lakes Community College escaped from NIACC, with a 4-1 win.
No. 1 ranked Lakers move to 11-0-3 with a win over NIACC. The Lakers had 13 shots and gave up 4. The Lakers had two yellow cards, and NIACC 6.
On a brisk fall day with a 12 MPH wind, with corn fields on two sides of the pitch. The conditions of the pitch and the aggressiveness of the opponents put the Lakes under pressure. It was a prison of circumstances, but just like the famous 1979 movie with Clint Eastwood, the Lakers were able to "Escape from NIACC-atraz". Goals in the 10 minute and 14th minute first from Haruya Higuchi assisted by Kasper Wollstein, the second from Kasper from Keiji Segiura. Was answered by a NIACC goal in the 18th minute. This became a well contested match until the 43rd minute when Shaiyon Johnson found Keiji, who shot off the post, and Yurok Cho put away the rebound. In the second half the Lakers only allowed one shot against, and in the 64th minute Keiji scored a goal assisted by Kasper. Final score was 4-1.
Now with just two games left in the next week the pressure of an undefeated season is mounting. It will be interesting to see if this group of young men can live up to expectations and return to the top of the hill in NJCAA, as the compete in the ultra-competitive ICCAC.
