Iowa Lakes Community College lost its first match of the year six days ago. In dramatic bounce back fashion they won 6-0. Just about ten days ago these team played to a 1-0 Lakes win. So, with the undefeated season gone, and now playing for a berth in the Region 11 final big questions about the resiliency of their team blew like the wind across Spencer.

 

With a South wind of 20 MPH and the temperature unseasonably in the 70's, Iowa Lakes Community College welcomes the team from Souix City. The Lakers stated the game with the wind at their back, and on the front foot, pressing WIT into the north side of the pitch. Then with a snap of his left foot, Garbhan Feeney scored from 25 yards out. After beating his defender to the inside, and finding a sliver of space, "G" put the lakers up in the 7th minute. Seven mor minutes and Kasper Wollstein, was sent to the goal by "G" and now it was 2-0. Then in just two minutes Florent Lefebvre slid in a free kick from just outside the area and it was 3-0. Then nine minutes later Sam Storey started the attack, sending Kasper behind who passes to Haruya Higuchi for the tap in. 18 minutes four goals and it was official that the Lakers had shaken off the loss and are ready for the playoffs. In the second half goals from Lander Barrio Gonzalez and Kenta Yagi provided the 6-0 final score.

 

The Region 11 final will be played on Saturday, November 2^nd in Norfolk, NE. Northeast will host after coming from behind to win 3-2 over Southeastern. This is the rematch of Last Wednesday match that ended 3-2 with Northeast also coming from behind to snatch that win.
