Iowa Lakes Swims Strong at Morningside Invite

The Iowa Lakes Men showed their sprinting strength and swam new events in a strong showing at the Morningside Invite.  Randy Vaughan switched from IM and breaststroke to freestyle and had great results with fast times in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyles and on the 200 medley and freestyle relays.  Jake Bohnert finished 4th with a fast 22.01 in the 50 freestyle.  Patrick Voller had season best times in the 50 and 100 freestyles and the 100 backstrokes.  Ben Hehr switched from his usual freestyle events to swim impressive times in the 100 and 200 Backstrokes and 400 IM. The Laker 200 Free Relay Team had a season best time, finishing fifth and had a close race with the other top relays in the meet.  Bohnert's anchor split of 21.81 was one of the quickest of the meet.

Head Coach Todd Peters shared his thoughts after the meet, "We were using this meet to try swimmers in some different events and to focus on the relays.  We need to try a number of things to figure out what our best relay lineups are and to try new events as we continue to prepare for the upcoming Rochester Invite and the season ending National Meet. Vaughan, Hehr, Voller, and Trussov all showed strengths in events they do not typically compete in and those performances will help us moving forward."

The Laker Men have a week off before traveling to Sioux Falls, SD for the Augustana Invite on November 21-23.
