Emmetsburg – Iowa Lakes head Swim and Dive coach Kaden Huntrods announced the addition of former Laker swimmer Jacob Oliver to the staff as a graduate assistant coach.

"We are very happy to have Jacob back at Iowa Lakes," Huntrods said. "Jacob swam here previously and he has competed at the state and national level, I am excited to bring that experience back to Iowa Lakes."

"I am thrilled to be back at Iowa Lakes! I left as a student-athlete and now I get to return as an assistant coach; this is truly a dream come true for me. I am excited to be given the opportunity to be a part of the Iowa Lakes athletic program, getting to fulfill the role as a mentor to student-athletes as well as being an assistant to Coach Huntrods. I feel like we have tremendous potential for our swimming program under the leadership of Coach Huntrods and I cannot wait to become a key part in creating more success stories with swimmers during the upcoming season, helping them strive both in and out of the pool."

A native of Fort Collins, CO Oliver swam for four years in high school. During this time he was a three-time qualifier for the Colorado 5A State Meet.  At Iowa Lakes Oliver competed at the NJCAA National Swimming and Diving Championship in the 2016-17 season.  Oliver earned Academic All-American status both in Cross-Country and Swimming while at Iowa Lakes.  Oliver continued onto the University of Colorado Boulder to finish with his Bachelors's degree in Political Science.  He will pursue his Master's degree in Applied Statistics with a specialization in Data Science.
