First Meet of the Season

First Meet of the Season

The Lakers had their First meet of the season on October 26th down in Sioux City against the Morningside Mustangs. Your Lakers may have lost the meet but put up a really good fight against the Mustangs! We had some really great times put up from both 200 Mens Medley Relay and 200 Mens Free Relay. Both relays consisted of Sophomores Pedro Brandao, Joao Rodrigues and Caleb Hodge and Freshman Grant Bumsted. Both relays qualified for Nationals in March with a 1:47.84 (200 Medley) and a 1:36.12 (200 Free). Our Fearless Fijian, Freshman Mana Thoms competed well in the 200 Free, 200 IM and the 500 Free earning first place finishes in the 200 Free and 500 Free. She also crushed the National qualifying times in all of her races! Freshman Jaxon Roberts cruised through the 50 Free, 100 Free, and 100 Back earning a spot on the National team as well. Lucas Neuvonen, freshman from Finland, placed 2nd in the 50 Free earning a spot on the National team but just missed the time for the 100 Free. Breaststroke fanatic Pedro Brandao placed 2nd in the 100 Breast with a 1:02.49 securing a spot in Nationals as well.

Over all a fantastic meet and a great mindset builder for the team! They are excited and anxious to get back into the pool to hone their skills and to get faster! Your Lakers Swimming and Diving Team travel to Dubuque November 9th to take on the Tri Meet against Iowa Central and Loras College.

GO LAKERS!
