The Lakers travelled to Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa this weekend. The 400 Medley Relay being the first event of the competition ended in just a fingertip finish with your Lakers placing second with a 3:57.88. Mana Thoms, our Fijian Freshman, dropped time in both the 200 Free (2:07.32) and the 500 Free (5:59.41). She staked her claim to the 100 Fly with a time of 1:11.23 placing 3rd in that race.
Iowa Native Freshman Jaxon Roberts cut time in his 100 Back (1:07.63) and maintained his times in the 100 free and the 50 Free. Our other Iowa Native Freshman Grant Bumsted maintained his times in the 50 Free (23.89), had the individual time in the 100 Fly (57.07) and also the fly leg in the 400 Medley relay (56.76) also pulled off a 23.47 in his leg of the 200 free relay. Finnish Freshman Lucas Neuvonen lead off our 400 Medley relay doing the 100 Back in 1:04.20, dropped 10 seconds in his 100 free with a new time of 54.55 and maintained his time for the 50 free.
Sophmore Caleb Hodge maintained his 50 Free times with the individual 50 free and being the lead off in our 200 Free relay. Hodge also maintained his time in the 100 Free at a 54.67. Brazilian Sophomore Joao Rodrigues stayed strong with anchoring both the 400 Medley Relay (55.45) and the 200 free Relay (24.00) while also maintaining his time in the individual 50 Free with a 24.33, and 100 Free 57.89. The Breaststroking Brazilian Pedro Brandao crushed the breaststroke leg in the 400 Medley relay (1:01.47) and the 100 Breaststroke (1:02.04). Brandao took home Gold in the 200 Breaststroke with a 2:20.63 then turned around and stayed strong for his leg of the 200 free Relay where it was a 2nd place finish!
Overall a fun and exciting meet! Your Lakers travel north this weekend (11/16/24) to U of M- Morris to take on the Cougars!
