Cross Country shows progress at Simpson College

The men and women's cross country team traveled to Simpson College Friday to run in the annual Bill Buxton Invite. The women ran a 4k course that was physically demanding. Sophomore Jadin Bezdicek led the way for the women finishing in a time of 19:30, which was good enough for 19th place. Sophomore Chelsea Cave saw action for the first time this year and finished with a time of 22:04, which landed her in 29th place.

Over on the men's side, sophomore Kameron Rohwedder led the way for the second straight week. Kameron covered the 6k course in 23:24 and placed 33rd. Sophomore Kevin Davis ran a great race, but did not have a finishing time due to him taking a wrong turn.

"I thought we really got out there and competed today. Kameron and Jadin set a good pace for themselves and battled with other runners. I was excited to see Chelsea compete for the first time this year and thought she finished off the race strong. Kevin was running a great race and just took a wrong turn. People get spread out so much during the race, that sometimes those things just happen. I thought everybody started and finished the race strong, but we struggled maintaining our pace in the middle of the race. We are off for a couple of weeks, so we are going to really increase the mileage and intensity of our practices over the next few weeks which should really help with that middle part of the race," commented Coach Bruce.

The cross country teams return to action on Friday September 15th when they travel to Grand View
