Amanda Franke to Play Softball for Lakers

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie Larson, announced the signing of Amanda Franke to the 2020-2021 recruiting class. Amanda is the daughter of John and Traci Franke. She is from Eyota, Minnesota and attends Dover-Eyota High School.

"We are very excited that Amanda decided to be a Laker next year," commented Coach Larson. "Amanda's athleticism will allow her to be a versatile player in college. This will help strengthen our already strong 2020 class and add substantial depth to our team."

As a four-year letter winner for the Eagles, Amanda has accomplished many things in her career. She is a two time All-Conference selection, two time All-Section selection, and a KFIL radio Player of the Game recipient. Last season she batted .429 with 64 hits, including 17 doubles, seven triples, and four homeruns. Additionally, Amanda batted in 41 of her teammates. Franke is also a two-year letter winner in basketball.

When asked why she chose Iowa Lakes, Franke said, "During my visit to Iowa Lakes, I felt very welcomed and felt it was a very family orientated school and community. Being from a small town and going to another small town just feels right and definitely could become a home. I'm super excited to continue my softball career and to continue to play with a few of my teammates from Southeast Flyers. Excited for my future as a Lakers!"

Coach Larson also had this to say, "Amanda has great drive as a competitor. She has played on a very good travel team that has won state the past two years. She, along with her teammates, know how to compete and win. This is something you either have or do not have. Her competitive nature will enable her to compete at our level and her work ethic and experience will greatly enhance our team. We cannot wait to see what the next two years with Amanda brings!"
