Chase Awarded ICCAC Pitcher of the Week

Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Lexi Chase, has earned her second award in two weeks. The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference has recognized Lexi as last week's Pitcher of the Week. This is due to her play between April 5-11, when the Lakers went 2-2.

Chase had this to say about receiving this award, "I am honored to receive this award, all the hard work this team has put in for the past seven months is paying off. I love pitching for a team that wants to make the plays behind me and win the close games. Thanks to my teammates and coaches I am being acknowledged for the second week in a row and I could not be more grateful."

In the circle, Chase picked up her first career no-hitter against #15 Iowa Central Community College. Her defense helped her out, but Chase was able to take care of fifteen of the eighteen outs in the game, with thirteen of them coming from strikeouts. In her three appearances last week, Chase pitched seventeen innings and struck out twenty-five batters with a WHIP of 1.17. Additionally, Chase was 7-12 at the plate, giving her a .583 batting average. Her best hitting performance was against Division I Southeastern Community College where she went 2-3 with two homeruns.

On the season, Chase has earned eleven wins, while suffering two losses. She has allowed 104 hits while striking out 86 batters (top 10 in the conference). She has allowed just 43 earned runs in 83 innings pitched. At the plate, she has a .529 batting average (second highest in the ICCAC) with 26 hits, including eight doubles, one triple, and four homeruns.

"Another great week for Lexi and her teammates. I believe that Lexi has proven herself as a force both in the circle and in the batter's box, and it is great to see her recognized for this. Her sheer determination and competitiveness in the circle are what allows her to be so dominant in the conference. I am excited to watch what her and her teammates can do with the back half of this season," commented Coach King.
