Chase Named Pitcher of the Week for Second Time in a Row

For the third week in a row, Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Lexi Chase, has been recognized for her efforts in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. This is the second week in a row that she has been named ICCAC Pitcher of the Week. This is due to her play between April 12-18, when the Lakers went 8-0.

Lexi had this to say, "I am honored to receive this award, and I am so happy with the success that the team has had the past week. We are all working very hard to reach our goal of going to nationals. Thanks to my team's success I am being recognized for the award and I could not be more grateful."

During the week, Chase went 6-0 with one save. She appeared in seven of the eight games that the Lakers played. She threw in 34 innings, allowing just five earned runs on 27 hits while striking out 29 batters. Chase also threw two shutouts and a one-hitter against NIACC. On top of her performance in the circle, she also batted .500 (14-28) at the plate.

On the season, Chase is 15-2 (3rd in conference) with one save. She has thrown 107 innings, allowing just 45 earned runs. She has allowed 118 hits while striking out 120 batters (7th in conference), good for a 2.94 ERA (5th in the conference). At the plate, Chase is batting .521 (2nd in the conference) with 50 hits, including 12 doubles, one triple, and five homeruns.

"Lexi has proven time and time again that she is an elite player. She does all the little things right, which in turn brings her success. The greatest thing about this athlete is her humility and desire to see the team and her teammate's triumph. That is ultimately the most important thing to her, and she will do whatever it takes to make that happen. Her success is based entirely on the team's success. We are coming down to the end of the season now, and it will be fun to see what Lexi and her teammates can do in playoffs," commented Coach King.
