Tritons Bats Too Much for Lakers

The Iowa Lakes Community College Softball team dropped two games against Iowa Central Community College. They lost game one 10-2 and game two 13-2. The Lakers are now 9-13 over all and 0-2 in conference.

GAME 1: 10 (ICCC), 2 (ILCC)

Iowa Lakes was able to get on the board first with an Abby Burgess solo homerun in the top of the third. Unfortunately, the Triton's bats came alive in the bottom half of the inning, scoring eight runs. They did this on seven hits and one walk.

The Lakers showed life in the top of the fourth when Taylor Larson led off the inning with a homerun. Madison Goosmann followed with a single and Macy Alderson drew a one out walk. Iowa Central was then able to get a strikeout and fly out to end the inning. The Tritons added to their lead with a solo homerun in the bottom of the inning.

Iowa Central scored their final run of the game in the fifth on a single, walk, and passed ball.

Abby Burgess, Taylor Larson, and Madison Goosmann each had a hit in the game. Taylor Larson suffered the loss, going 2.2 innings and allowing eight earned runs on ten hits. She walked one and struck out one. Jolene Jordahl threw 1.2 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.

GAME 2: 13 (ICCC), 2 (ILCC)

Iowa Central jumped out to the lead in game two, scoring six runs in the second on four walks, two walks, and one Laker error.

Brooklyn Bode got things started in the second, hitting a one out double. She then stole third. Abby Burgess drew a walk and then stole second, scoring Bode when they threw down to second.

The Tritons continued their hot hitting, scoring seven runs in the third. They did this on six hits, two walks, and one error.

Taylor Larson scored the Lakers final run in the top of the fourth with a solo homerun.

Taylor Larson led the Lakers at the plate, going 2-3 with a homerun. Brooklyn Bode also added a hit in the game. Jolene Jordahl suffered the loss, going 2 innings. She allowed nine runs, eight earned, on eight hits and two walks. Tatiyana Schack threw one inning, allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits and two walks. Taylor Larson threw one inning and struck out two.

The Lakers will continue conference play tomorrow, March 30th, against Ellsworth Community College. Game times are set for 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
