Alderson Commits to Waldorf University

Iowa Lakes Softball player, Macy Alderson, has recently signed to continue her athletic and academic careers at Waldorf University. She will be studying Exercise Science at the institution located in Forest City, Iowa.

Alderson had this to say about choosing Waldorf, "I chose to continue my academic and athletic career at Waldorf University because of Coach Uhlenhopp. He reached out to me and seemed as if he was very interested in having me on his team. They also have an amazing exercise science program that I will be taking."

Alderson is the daughter of Joel and Trish Alderson. She is from Graettinger, Iowa where she graduated from Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire High School.

In her first year as a Laker, Alderson batted .301 with a .376 on-base percentage. She slugged 37 hits, including five homeruns, one triple, and five doubles. She scored 42 runs and drove in 28 of her teammates. Alderson was and still is perfect on stolen bases in her career. Last season she stole 28 bases.

Alderson was just as successful in the classroom as she was on the field. She was named to the ICCAC All-Region Academic Second team last year. Her and the team compiled a 3.68 team GPA, which was 7th highest in all junior college softball programs in the country for divisions 1-3.

Coach King had this to say about Alderson, "I am really excited that Macy has decided to continue her athletic and academic careers at Waldorf University. She has really blossomed into a tremendous athlete and independent young woman since arriving on campus. She will be a great addition to both their outfield and offensive lineups and will bring a sense of leadership with her to the Warriors team. I cannot thank Macy enough for her time and dedication to the Iowa Lakes Softball program, and I cannot wait to watch her continue to grow the next two years."

"I have had an amazing two years here at Iowa Lakes," commented Alderson. "I have made amazing friendships that I will have for a lifetime, and memories I will never forget. My coaches Katie King and Kristi Larson have made a huge impact on my softball career and me personally as a person. Iowa Lakes was a great start for me and I highly recommend it to anybody!"
