Iowa Lakes Sports Shooting Falls a Few Targets Short vs Iowa Central

(Emmetsburg, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Sports Shooting Team shot a season high 473x500 but came up 10 targets short of Iowa Central's 483X500. It was cold and windy day in Fort Dodge on Saturday morning, October 7, 2023 when the 500 target shoot started. The top five shooters for the Lakers were: Brady, Abkes 97, Mackenzie Schnetzer 95, Cameron Fick 94, Taylor Shifllett 94, and Wyatt Schwenker 93.

In the individual men's division, Brady Abkes took the silver medal with 97x100 and 24, 25 in a two round shoot off. In the individual women's division Mackenzie Schnetzer won the gold medal with 95x100 and Kendall Umscheid took the bronze medal with 90x100.

The Lakers now have a season record of 2 wins and 2 losses in the Western Division of the ICCAC Trap League with the final home meet vs Southwestern Community College at the Palo Alto Gun Club at Sportsman's Park just north of Cylinder. The 500 target 16 yard competition starts at 10:00AM on Saturday, October 14th.

Coach Kalsow said, " I'm really proud of our team, in less than ideal weather we shot our best team score of the fall season and brought home 3 medals against a very good Iowa Central Trap Team at their home club".
