The Laker Team scored 506.5 points, a mere 59 points out of first place in the 5 week 250 target Trap League. Three Laker shooters tied for 4th place in the year end averages all with 23.8X25. The shooters were Jacob Grau-West, Tristen Werner, and Joe Perrigo.
The awards presentation was on Tuesday, October 15 at the Alexandria Shooting Park in Alexandria, MN. Before the presentation the club hosted the 2024 Clay Target Championship. 250 Community College athletes from MN, ND and IA competed in the one day event. The Lakers top 5 shooters were: Jacob Grau-West 98, Tristen Werner 95, Joe Billings 91, Paul Van Dover 82, and Brad Strotman 77 for a total of 443x500 to finish a disappointing 13 place out of 17 teams.
The individual competition was a different story, the Lakes Jacob Grau-West won the Varsity Champion Award with his 98x100 and a RR (Reverse Run) of 74. The Lakers Cidney Tidgren placed 2nd in the women's JV category with 75x100 and a RR of 9.
On Wednesday, October 16 the Lakes competed in the ICCAC Clay Target Craziness competition against Indian Hills in Ottumwa, IA. In the single elimination event Indian Hills defeated Iowa Lakes 469 to 424. The top 5 shooters for the Lakers were: Jacob Grau-West 97, Blake Bresler 91, Tristen Werner 86, Joe billings 78, and Caleb Hodge 72.
Just like Alexandria the individual with the high score was the Lakers Jacob Grau-West with a lone 97x100.
The final trap shoot for the Lakers this fall is the SCTP/DNR Community College State Championship on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the New Pioneer Gun Clun in Waukee, IA. We are scheduled to have 1 squad shoot at noon and the other squad at 1:00 pm.
