Iowa Lakes Community College will add Competitive Men's and Women's Sports Shooting. Previously Iowa Lakes had a Sports Shooting Club and it will transition to a varsity sport in the 2018-19 academic year. The Sports Shooting team will be based out of the Emmetsburg campus and will practice at Sportsman Park in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Iowa Lakes will compete in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference against the eight other colleges in the conference that have the sport.

The fast growing and dynamic sport is expected to draw 10 students in the first year of the program and reach up to 20 or more in its second year.
