The Lakers win on the road tonight 63-53 over Marshalltown. The Lakers were led by Mia Wassink who recorded a double double with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Calynn Jackson added 17 points shooting 5-10 from the 3 point line. Marissa Ruiz added 12 points shooting 3-6 from the 3 point line.
"This was a great team win tonight. We had a tough first semester and I am so happy for the kids to go into Christmas break with a win. I thought we played a very good first half. That is probably the best we have shot the ball from the outside. It was good to see the kids make shots and shoot it with confidence. We came out slow in the 3rd quarter but was happy to see the team persevere and make enough plays in the 4th quarter. I thought Mia took the team on her shoulders in the 4th quarter and made some crucial baskets to help us seal the win," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.
The Lakers finish the first semester 3-9. The Lakers will return to play at home on January 5, 2018 vs Grandview JV at 5:30pm.
