The Lakers pick up their first win of the new year over Grandview JV 65-62. The Lakers had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures. The Lakers were led by Mia Wassink with 15 points, Marisela Perez added 13 points, Marissa Ruiz added 12 points, and Calynn Jackson added 11 points.

 "I am so happy for our girls tonight. The girls fought and competed for 40 minutes. I thought we guarded and rebounded really well. We continue to improve on the offensive end. The girls found a way to win tonight. They made enough plays down the stretch. We showed a lot of improvement from first semester. I am excited to see what this team can accomplish in the 2^nd semester," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.

The Lakers are 4-9 on the season and 0-0 in conference play. The Lakers are back in action next Wednesday January 10^th at Central Community College in Columbus, Ne for a 6:00pm tip. The Lakers begin conference play on Saturday, January 13^th at Southwestern at 1:00pm. The Lakers return to home on Saturday, January 20^th when they host Kirkwood at 1:00pm.
