Smith Earns Player of the Week Honors

Shareece Smith, a freshman from Fort Dodge, IA was selected as the ICCAC Player of the Week.

Shareece Smith a freshman from Fort Dodge, IA was named the ICCAC (Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) player of the week for the Lakers.

The Lakers rattled off two conference wins last weekend and won their 10th and 11th games of the season, the most in the ICCAC to date. Shareece Smith filled up the stat sheet in both games. Combined, she totaled 37 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists, and three steals in the two games, an 80-62 win over Little Priest, and an 81-62 win over Ellsworth. On the season, Smith is averaging 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.

 "Shareece is the energizer bunny that makes our team go. She sets the tempo for the game and gets everyone involved. She makes everyone around her better," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.

The Lakers are 12-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Lakers return from Christmas break and take on Buena Vista JV at home January 7th at 5:30pm. They return to conference play Saturday, January 12th when they travel to Boone, IA to take on DMACC at 1:00pm.
