The Lakers fell in the first game on Saturday to Central CC 56-63. The Lakers were led by Shareece Smith with 15 points and Breanna Wendland with 14 points.
The Lakers faced off with Grandview JV today and won 60-48. The Lakers held Grandview to 8-34 from 3, a key to the game. Breanna Wendland led the Lakers with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Shareece Smith added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Destiny Brossard pulled down 11 rebounds.
"Saturday was not our best effort we have given. I thought our team responded really well today. Their effort was much better and they competed hard for 40 minutes. I thought we were really locked in on the defensive end. We got a lot of good contributions from the team today. This team as the potential to be very deep. Will help us moving forward," commented Coach Martin.
The Lakers are 8-3 on the season and 0-0 in conference play. The Lakers return home on Wednesday, December 4th for their first conference game of the year against Iowa Central at 5:30pm.
