Iowa Lakes Whitner Earns Player of the Week Honors

Jeada Whitner a sophomore from Mason City, IA was named the ICCAC (Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) player of the week for the Lakers.

Iowa Lakes took down DMACC in their lone game last week, beating the Bears 69-59. In the win, the Lakers were led by sophomore point guard Jaeda Whitner. Whitner scored 25 points including 5 of 10 from three-point land. She added four rebounds and two assists. Whitner leads the Lakers in scoring this season at 18.3 points per game, fourth best in the ICCAC. She is second in the conference in three pointers made with 34. Iowa Lakes in third place in the ICCAC standings with a 3-1 record heading into the winter break.

"This is a tremendous honor for Jeada and our team.  Jaeda loves the game and loves competing. She has been a big time scorer for us and continues to make everyone around her better. I look forward to seeing her improve as the season progresses," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.

The Lakers are currently 9-5 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. The Lakers return to action after the holiday break on Wednesday, January 5th  when they travel to Marshalltown, IA to take on Marshalltown Community College.
