Four Iowa Lakes Women’s Basketball Members Selected to All-Region Teams

Four Iowa Lakes Community College women's basketball athletes were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Women's Basketball All-Region teams.

Jaeda Whitner was named to the ICCAC All-Region 1st team, Rachel Puok Rachel Breck was named to the ICCAC All-Region 2nd team, and Brielle Bartelt was named 3rd team.

Jaeda Whitner, a sophomore guard from Mason City, IA, lead the team in scoring this season averaging 16.7 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game in her sophomore season. Whitner shot 33% from behind the arc. Whitner scored 816 points in her two years as a Laker. Whitner led the conference in assists per game averaging 5.1 a game and was 4th in conference in scoring per game.

"Jaeda had a really good year for us. Very tough and competitive. Enjoyed coaching her for two years.  Has a bright future at the four year level," commented Coach Martin.  

Rachel Puok, a sophomore guard from Des Moines, IA, finished the season averaging close to a double-double per game with 10.5 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. Puok's 211 total rebounds were the most on the team. Puok shot 35.4% from behind the arc.

"Rachel had a great two years for us. Could really score it and defend. Improved so much in her two years. Enjoyed coaching her for 2 years and excited to see her compete at the four year level," commented Coach Martin.

Rachel Breck, a sophomore forward from Waseca, Mn averaged 9.8 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Breck led the team in field goal percentage making 56% of all attempts.

"Rachel was that calming presence on the floor. Rachel was a tenacious defender for us her entire career. Her talking and communication were incredibly important for our team's success. " commented Coach Martin.

Brielle Bartelt, a freshman guard from Waterville, Mn, averaged 10.5 points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game.

"Brielle grew so much this season.  She has a very high basketball IQ and made a ton of plays every game that impacted winning," commented Coach Martin.

The Lakers ended their season with an overall record of 19-12 and a conference record of 13-7.
