Three Iowa Lakes Women’s Basketball Players Earn Postseason Honors

Three Iowa Lakes Community College women's basketball athletes were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Women's Basketball All-Region teams.

Brielle Bartelt was named to the ICCAC All-Region 1st team, Ihari Oromo was named to 2nd team and Makayla Holton was named to 3rd team. 

Brielle Bartelt, a sophomore from Waterville, MN led the team in scoring this year, with 14.9 points per game.  She averaged 4.9 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game.  Bartelt was one of the conference's top scorers all season. She finished 2nd in the conference for overall points with 432. Bartelt finished 5th in conference in points per game and 3rd in the conference in assists per game.  Bartelt earned ICCAC Player of the Week twice this season. She finished her career with 757 points.

"Brielle was a dynamic scorer and could score the basketball at all 3 levels in our conference. She has an elite basketball IQ. She continued to improve on the defensive end all season and could really anticipate well on the defensive end. I'm excited to see Brielle continue to have success at University of South Carolina-Beaufort," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.

Ihari Oromo, a sophomore from Des Moines, IA, was third on the team in scoring with 9.0 points per game and led the team in rebounds. Oromo was 5th overall in the conference in rebounds per game at 6.7. She was 2nd in the conference in total rebounds this season with 202.  Oromo finished her career with 468 points and 345 rebounds.

"Ihari really improved in her two seasons as a Laker. She could finish on the block and she brought a ton of energy to the defensive end of the floor. Her weakside rotations, taking charges, and rebounding really allowed our team to have a lot of success this season. Ihari left her heart and soul out on the floor. I am excited to see her continue to have success at the 4 year level," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin.

Makayla Holton, a freshmen from St. Paul, MN averaged 7.3 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists per game, and 2.2 steals per game.

"Makayla spearheaded our defense all year. She was a tenacious defender all season and harassed the ball all season. She initiated our defense and put our team in a position to be successful. Makayla really improved on the offensive end all season and could really attack the rim. Excited to see her continue to improve," commented Head Coach Ashley Martin. 

The Laker women ended their season with an overall record of 18-12 and 10-6 record in conference.
