Iowa Lakes Women's basketball player Brielle Bartelt was named to the NJCAA All-American 3rd Team this season. She is one of three players from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II to receive this honor.
Brielle Bartelt, a sophomore from Waterville, MN led the team in scoring this year, with 14.9 points per game. She averaged 4.9 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game. Bartelt was one of the conference's top scorers all season. She finished 2nd in the conference for overall points with 432. Bartelt finished 5th in conference in points per game and 3rd in the conference in assists per game. Bartelt earned ICCAC Player of the Week twice this season. She finished her career with 757 points.
In addition to Bartelt's NJCAA All-American 3rd Team honors, she has earned numerous honors throughout her career at Iowa Lakes: ICCAC 1st Team All-Region sophomore year, honorable mention freshman year, as well as ICCAC Academic All-Region both freshman and sophomore years. Bartelt was named ICCAC Athlete of the Week two times during her collegiate career at Iowa Lakes.
"I am beyond thankful and blessed to have received and earned the All-American award. This honor is something that I have worked really hard for but I couldn't have done it without the help of my teammates and coaches pushing me to be my very best everyday. The endless support from the people around me has also made this possible," said Bartelt.
"I am so proud of Brielle and all she accomplished in her time at Iowa Lakes," said Coach Martin. "Brielle has worked so hard to be able to earn this big time award. Really enjoyed coaching Brielle; she is a gym rat and I love the passion she has for the game. I am excited to see her do big things at South Carolina-Beaufort."
The Laker women ended their season with an overall record of 18-12 and 10-6 record in conference.
