Bartelt Signs with Division II University of South Carolina Beaufort

NJCAA All-American Brielle Bartelt will be continuing her athletic and academic career at University of South Carolina Beaufort. The Sand Sharks are located in Bluffton, SC and compete at the NCAA Division II level in the Peach Belt conference. She is planning to major in marketing.

Bartelt is looking forward to this next step, "I'm beyond excited to see what is next to come at the University of South Carolina-Beaufort. I hope to play there two years and maybe have the chance to play after as well. I can't wait to just improve my game and keep playing basketball."

Bartelt is the daughter of William Bartelt and Vicki and Noel Schroer. She is from Waterville, Minnesota, and is a graduate of Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School.

Bartelt led the Lakers in scoring this year, with 14.9 points per game.  She averaged 4.9 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game.  Bartelt was one of the conference's top scorers all season. She finished 2nd in the conference for overall points with 432. Bartelt finished 5th in conference in points per game and 3rd in the conference in assists per game.  She earned ICCAC Player of the Week twice this season. She finished her Laker career with 757 points.

In addition to Bartelt's NJCAA All-American 3rd Team honors, she earned numerous honors throughout her career at Iowa Lakes: ICCAC 1st Team All-Region sophomore year, honorable mention freshman year, as well as ICCAC Academic All-Region both freshman and sophomore years.  Bartelt was named ICCAC Athlete of the Week two times during her collegiate career at Iowa Lakes.

Coach Martin had this to say about Bartelt, "I am so proud of Brielle and all her accomplishments at Iowa Lakes. She has worked so hard to earn a full ride scholarship to play for legendary Coach Sharon Versyp. She had a great two years at Iowa Lakes. I love the passion she has for the game of basketball and really enjoyed coaching her. So thankful she chose Iowa Lakes and I had the opportunity to coach her for two years. I know she will continue to do big things as she moves on to University of South Carolina-Beaufort."

Bartelt and her teammates accomplished a lot in the past two years. They finished with a 37-24 record and were receiving votes the last 6 weeks of the season. The Lakers took down #5 Lake Land and went on an impressive eight game winning streak this season. 

As for her time at Iowa Lakes, Bartelt had this to say, "Playing basketball at Iowa Lakes has been amazing. I have enjoyed every minute here. I will always love the teammates I was able to play with. I'm very thankful to have had Coach Martin as my coach. My two years playing here are the ones to remember."
