Ashley Martin just finished her seventh year as the Head Coach for the Iowa Lakes Women’s Basketball team.  Martin's first full year leading the Lakers in the 2016-2017 season the team finished with an overall record of 11-21 and a conference record of 2-12.  Since then the Lakers have steadily improved and have finished in the top half of the conference the past two years with overall records of 18-12 and 19-12.  At the end of the 2022-2023 season Coach Martin's overall record was 109-96

Iowa Lakes Women's Basketball's first All-American, Mia Wassink played for Coach Martin 2016-2018.  Brielle Bartelt earned All-American honors as a sophomore at Iowa Lakes in 2023.  Wassink, Bartelt, Jaeda Whitner, Shareece Smith, and Breanna Wendland have all earned 1st team all-conference honors under Coach Martin.  Additionally, Martin has had 10 players earn 2nd team all-conference recognition and 10 players earn 3rd team all-conference recoginition.  Twenty players have achieved academic all-region honors under Coach Martin.  

Martin served as an Assistant Women's Basketball coach at Des Moines Area Community College from 2010-2016. Prior to coaching at DMACC, she was a Graduate Assistant Coach at Iowa Lakes Community College from 2008-2010.

Martin obtained a Master’s degree in Higher Education from Iowa State University in 2010. She received her undergraduate degree from Upper Iowa University in 2008 with a B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science.  She played basketball at Upper Iowa for 3 years after transferring from Des Moines Area Community College where she played her freshman year.
