Lakers Claim 1st Team Win of 2017

Rahn Claims Individual Title as Lakers Win Waldorf Invational

The Lakers arrived at Bear Creek in Forest City for the Waldorf Invitational hoping that the weather would cooperate; mother nature had other plans. The forecast called for a slight wind and a possible drizzle, but as the day progressed the weather only got worse. A slow drizzle became a steady downpour and a slight breeze became a constant 20mph wind. The Lakers were unfazed and grinded out their first team win with a team score of 305, six shots ahead of Waldorf University with a 311.

"It was great to see all the guys keeping their heads in it all day, even with the conditions the way they were", said Coach Weber. "You can't really ask for much more on a day like today. The team came through and finally took home a win after a few second place finishes and Carl took home his second individual title this fall. With that all said today could have been even better so we still have some things to learn from and improve on. I am proud of how the guys played today and they can enjoy the W for a little while because we have another tournament in a couple of days down at Mozingo (Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville, Missouri)."

Carlton Rahn led the Lakers with a one over par 72 which was good enough for his second medalist honor of the fall. Sterling McIlravy was close to follow with a T-3rd finish with four over 75. Aaron James and Jaden Kallhoff came in with the other two counting scores with a 76 and 82, respectively. Morgan Edwards carded a non-counting 87 and Connor Pirtle came in with an 84 as an individual.

Weber had this to add about the women's team; "It has been a long fall for the women's team thus far and it's not as fun when we can't play a full team. Logan and Allison are still out, and will be for the rest of the fall season with back injuries so Annika and Molly are the only two left to finish out the year. Hopefully they can at least enjoy this fall and we can get healthy and have a good spring."

Annika DuMoulin posted a 95 and Molly Diekmann carded a 107.

The Laker men and women's teams will have a short turn around, looking to tee it up for 36 holes on Thursday October 5th and 18 more on the 6th at the SWCC Premier Invitational in Maryville, Missouri this Thursday and Friday at the Mozingo Lake Golf Course.
