Iowa Lakes Brings Home the NIACC Fall Invite
The Iowa Lakes women's golf team kicked off the season by taking home the NIACC Fall Invitational with a team score of 336, beating out the DMACC Bears with a 344. Leading the way for the Lakers was returning 1st Team All-Region sophomore Annika DuMoulin with an 80 by placing 3rd overall in the tournament.
"These ladies have a lot of talent and I knew it was going to be a fun season, but I didn't think we would get a team win this early in the season so this speaks great volumes on the work that they have already put in. They have bought into the team and into each other and it showed with everybody scoring in the 80's" said Coach Weber when asked about the day. "We are going to have a deep conference which is great to see, but these ladies have a great chance to make some noise and we are ready for the ride!"
Also at the tournament was the Iowa Lakes men's team who posted a team total of 304, led by freshman Matt Randall with a 74 and Cam Maxwell with a 75.
Coach Weber had this to add about the men: "Today was great to see some guys get some tournament experience and it was great to see them take advantage. Matt played very well which was great to see, as well as Cam and the rest of the team. We have some work to do to get more consistent and go lower to compete in a very tough region this year. There is a lot of talent throughout the region and it is going to be very exciting to see how things pan out in May."
The Iowa Lakes women will look to continue their success at the Lila Frommelt Fall Classic on September 14th and 15th at Two Rivers Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa. The men will hit the links on Monday, September 17th at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa at the Grandview Fall Shootout.
