Laker Wrestlers Fall to Ellsworth

Laker Wrestlers Fall to Ellsworth

In a battle of conference foes, the Laker wrestlers were unable to defeat a strong Ellsworth Panthers team. Ellsworth who is currently ranked 8th in the country was able to win eight of ten matches despite a strong effort from the Lakers. Sophomore Robert Hall III who is currently 7th at 141 lbs and Freshman Deville Dentis who is ranked 8th at 149 lbs were able to secure victories for the Lakers.

Coach Alesch is optimistic for the remainder of the season despite the loss when he had this to say "Every single time we take the mat I expect them to fight hard for 7 minutes and that's what we saw across the lineup tonight. When you wrestle a tough team like Ellsworth you know it's going to be a battle and there were some tough battles that we were able to win, and there were some that we lost, but that's how it goes. There a lot of matches that we feel confident in winning the next time. Overall, I'm happy with the way in which they competed and their effort and that's all you can ask for."

The Laker wrestlers will compete again on December 7th at the BVO Open in Storm Lake, IA, and are home again when the wrestle NIACC at Spirit Lake High school on January 14th
