Laker's Start Seaon at Luther Hill Invite

The Men's Wrestling program opened its season at the Luther Hill Invite tournament. Wrestlers from various schools across divisions competed and showcased all the work they've put in over the off-season.

The Lakers were led by Phillip Malone. In the semi-finals of the 285 weight class, Phil fell to a tough opponent from Hawkeye Community College but was able to bounce back and finish in 4th Place. Coach Corey Meyer was proud of the way Malone was able to regroup back and compete hard after a hard loss. "Phil's a competitor and when he loses he's not happy. For him to be able to compose himself and compete hard in two more matches says a lot about him."

In the 149 and 157 weight classes, William Penn and LaTravion Agu lost their opening matches before rattling off a couple of wins before the day was over. Coach Corey Meyer was also impressed by this. " Agu and Penn both had high expectations for themselves, as they should, they put in a lot of work and are very dedicated. For both of them to start their days off with a loss and then get better as the day goes on is a testament to their mental toughness and resiliency"

Overall, the team had a strong showing, with multiple wrestlers wrestling deep in the tournament. The dedication and effort put in during practice truly paid off, and the camaraderie among the team members was evident throughout the tournament.
