Lakers fall short in shutout loss to Hawks

Iowa Lakes now dropped their third straight loss after battling Northeast Nebraska.

The Lakers fought hard and kept the game close for all of the games 90 minutes but the Northeast Hawks eventually came out on top with a 2-0 victory. With limited subs, the Lakers face adversities as they struggle to find their chances and capatilize on them.

The 4 shots in the first half came from freshmen Joanna Medina and Dah Dah, and sophomore's Tessa Calabria and Maddy Duncan. Keeper Adelle Brown recorded 18 saves to secure the scoreboard.

Second half posed alot better for the Lakers, as their chances became more dangerous, but while distributing 6 shots, they were still unable to push a goal through the back of the net.

Shots in the second half came from Tessa, Maddy and transfer Ana Lima.

The Lakers were able to keep the ball on their attacking third most of the half as keeper Adelle, only recorded 6 saves in the second half.

"I thought the game could go either way. We had better chances in the second half but we were unlucky not to score. Credit to Northeast though, they were organized and tough to break down," Viedenkamp said.

Next, the Lakers are on the road as they face NIACC on Wednesday in Mason City at 4:00 PM.
